When December frost covers the Art Nouveau buildings of Subotica, the city square comes alive through Winterfest – an event that, over ten years, has grown into the warmest holiday tradition of northern Bačka. Every year, from early December until the January holidays, more than 70 exhibitors turn the city center into a fairytale winter town. The goal of this gathering is to celebrate togetherness and local creativity, offering residents of Subotica and tourists the chance to experience true European Christmas magic in the heart of Vojvodina through the aroma of cinnamon and holiday music.
A stroll among the decorated wooden chalets offers the best of local craftsmanship: from unique handmade items and souvenirs of traditional crafts to the finest homemade delicacies and gingerbread. Visitors can enjoy rich gastronomic specialties, warm up with the famous mulled wine, or find a perfect, authentic gift for their loved ones. Winterfest is not just a market, but a unique tourist attraction that seamlessly combines the preservation of cultural heritage, support for small producers, and an unforgettable atmosphere inviting everyone to enjoy every moment.
