Founded in 1962 from the Likovni susret – Palić art festival, the Contemporary Gallery Subotica was created to bring modern visual art closer to the public. Through vibrant exhibitions of painting, printmaking, sculpture, and new visual media, alongside artist talks and special events, the gallery has long been a dynamic space for artistic expression. Over the decades, it has curated a valuable collection of contemporary art, with a special focus on documenting the creative output of art colonies across Vojvodina and former Yugoslavia.
Since 1969, the gallery has been housed in the breathtaking Raichle Palace, one of Subotica’s finest examples of Art Nouveau architecture. Designated a Cultural Monument of Great Importance in 1973, this magnificent building offers a seamless blend of artistic heritage and modern vision. Today, the Contemporary Gallery Subotica remains a vital hub for modern visual arts—a captivating meeting place where artists, visitors, and inspiring ideas converge.
